Area 9 lings
« on: May 02, 2016, 09:50:11 AM »
Anybody do well? It think the tribes must have longlined them or something first time in history my boat didn't limit out on the opener.  I fished double bluff and possession. Fish cops gave me a colonoscopy and said only seen one fish caught.  Funny thing with fish cops I told them about some crab pots near by and they could have cared less they said they were delict. I said you might want to pull them they could by out of code and advisedly effecting wildlife being killing machines.  Lazy sob s what a bunch of useless meter maids better to try and write more meaningless tickets then do something productive.

I fished area 10. Caught a 25" ling and some rockfish. Saw a couple nice keepers boated. Fish cops were checking boats where I was at as well. They skipped me though.
Fish hard, hunt harder!

No, not a gamie - I work for living.   :chuckle:

Just I've fished that area for many years and I've never been checked - except at the boat launch.

We got a boat limit in area 9 opening day and yesterday, 5 total between 29-35".   Also released 2 oversized. I saw the fish cops but wasn't stopped.

Any one catch Lings at foulweather bluff, I went out but couldn't find any structure on the sounder.  So we caught a lot of flounder and a china rock.  We did keep a 5 pound starry flounder.

We were out at possession and double bluff for a couple hours.  Didn't get anything and only saw one caught.  There was a boat at the Edmonds marina that had 3 nice keepers, assuming they caught them off the breakwater but I don't know for sure.

There were gamies checking people at the posession county park launch/dock as they came in.

Caught in Area 7.  A few shorts but no other legal ones.  30", 10 1/2 pounds.

A neighbor's wife caught a 47 1/2 inch one yesterday, said it was over 40 pounds.   :yike: And was squirting out a few eggs.  They thought it was mostly done spawning though as it's belly was floppy.

Mine had recently spawned based on the size of its empty ovaries.

I'm guessing the spawn is a little late this year and the big ones will start biting more this weekend.  I don't think they feed much while spawning.

5 hours on Monday on possession with none boated. Had a few takedowns. Beautiful day though.

Fish checker in Everett said 20 boats checked. 4 lings.
