You can, but I think they'd get very rubbery. Kinda curious now myself lol.

Would that make a difference if used in chowder? :dunno:

Grind them after smoking.

I had some smoked razor clams at an Astoria seafood wine festival a couple years back. They were super good. So I'm sure it can be done, but as far as the process to make them taste great without being rubbery... Trial and error maybe.

Once at work there was a BC Indian I was working with that brought some to work and they were pretty good. I don't know the process but they were lightly smoked and then canned with oil. Not floating in oil but there was definitely some added.

Yup that's the one.  I was only able to get one morning of clamming in (also camping at Cape D) just did a small batch of ice man's smoked clams today.  Couldn't resist and had them as an appetizer for dinner.  I would highly suggest doing up most of your haul this way.  Maybe grind up several cups and freeze them for chowder or fritters as well.  Sooo many ways to enjoy those lil buggers!

Canned up 8 pints and 14 1/2 pints yesterday. I have already eaten 2 of the 1/2 pints. I think I need to hide them from myself...
