There is no long gun registry, you simply need to have a licensed FFL complete the background check.  Typical prices are about $20.

I see 30.00 more normal. Some shops will go to 50.00, which is a money grab.

Does anyone know if they are requiring people to pay the state sales tax when doing a transfer?

I believe if it's a private party transaction you do not have to pay sales tax...at least I didn't when I recently bought a rifle off a member from here.

X2!  I use Precision Combat Arms for all my deliveries when I purchase out of state and Clint only charges $15.

The way I read this is sales tax is NOT collected on transfers between unlicensed persons. http://dor.wa.gov/docs/pubs/specialnotices/2014/sn_14_firearms.pdf
