Night hunt, spotted a pair of .....
« on: June 18, 2016, 02:17:59 PM »
I was out near Mason Lake last night, night hunt for coyotes. Managed to call in a pair of curious blacktail bucks, two point, looked like in velvet. It was getting pretty dark when they came in while I was calling. Heard but never saw any yotes. Beautiful night with an almost full moon.

I have called in a few does with the fawn in distress.  They came in hot!  What call did you get to call in the bucks?

Was using a mix of e-call, rodent distress and RR hand call, sort of a light howling. Funny how often deer come investigating. Unusual for me to see two bucks out wandering around, was about 10:00 pm. They watched where I was for about 5 minutes.

That is a very neat experience.  When I was stationed in Lemoore ( California)  we tried that with a mature buck we saw walking on a hill.  He took off when we hit the coyote howler :chuckle:
