13 Year Old Needs Teanaway Early August Help.
« on: July 13, 2016, 01:36:25 PM »
My grandson drew the August rifle cow tag for Teanaway. If there is anyone out there who would be willing to part with a little info to help us refine our scouting options we would be delighted. He only has 1 deer and plenty of small game to his credit so far, but he's extremely accurate and would like to break the ice on an elk. I've noticed the people on this site are usually pretty supportive of youth opportunity. So if you could throw us an informational bone it would surely be appreciated.

      Thanks!   Joe

I'm over there just about every weekend. I'll turn over any valuable intel within reason to get your youngster a nice tasty cow at the end of the summer.

Should not be too hard to find a cow in that unit in August.  They have not been hunted yet so they will not be overly skitish.  My guess is, you could talk to most land owners over there and get permission for a cow (especially for a youth hunter).  If not, you should be able to find one real close to a road (on public ground) that time of year.  Good luck and make sure to post pics of the happy hunter with his first elk.
