Photographers amateur or pro for website sourcing
« on: July 20, 2016, 10:55:21 AM »
Hi all,

I'm seeking to use and/or license an image or two for our website and would love to source the image here if possible. We're coming down the stretch going through dev now and making tweaks to copy & corresponding images. All images will be pushed through our creative process to ensure it works with the site layout & brand statements so no guarantee of use but if we do, happy to discuss digital use rights. This image would be used as part of a 2-4 image carousel for IP products & services we're launching as part of the company in a few short weeks. Most of the images we're using on the site are sourced by people who work here plus a few stock but rounding the site out with a Hunt WA contribution would be cool.

Here's what I'm looking for in a high res format: The goal of this image use is to authentically lean into the outdoor, hunting, wildlife & conservation industries through my company as a secondary part of our business without showing kill shots or processing game. Think of some of the premier brands and the use of imagery like Cabelas, REI, Mossy Oak, Yeti, Bass Pro, and others as the style and quality to accentuate a brand message, product or call to action.

1. Lifestyle / outdoor hiking, backpacking, scouting, camping. The image could help tell a story of companionship in the outdoors or solitude. It could reflect the serenity of being alone in a mountain valley meadow or the anticipation just before a shot. For me the early morning hours or twilight hours of dusk are always great times of the day but entirely open to mid day shots.

2. Wildlife, scenic, geography. The types of pictures that come to mind range from an elk's breath in the early morning hours as he bugles in a meadow to fawns with her mama in early spring or cupped up ducks landing in your blind or dogs/water/retrieving ducks. I'd like to stay away from predators for the most part but have considered a few Shutterstock images of bears mostly because of the lack of quality and quantity with other game animal pics.

Image requirements:
  • You must own the rights to the image
  • High res - some camera phones provide the quality but many don't. Around 1900 x 1900 is ideal
  • No augmented photos - retouching & color yes, but no merging of outside/additional elements
  • Left or right justified image. Any image that's framed in the center probably won't work well for our use
  • Brands or product names cannot be easily visible and we may re-touch the image for licensing
  • Any faces that are visible would need to provide approval to use digitally
  • Picture to come from WA State only

Feel free to post a low res copy of any images you'd like to be considered to this thread, message me or send me a link to recommends inside of your own image gallery. There will probably be dozens of great photos and I will be picky for the needs of the site meaning plenty of great pics probably won't be picked but only because of site design and brand story we're telling.

If there are any questions that require answers for all, I'll amend this post but one off answers I'll provide inline.

Thanks!

Thanks for posting!!

The second one is good with the horizon line matching up for our use but it may be too dark and I'm not sure we want to use a rifle or any guns on our public facing site (especially in this state).

This doesn't actually tag these guys does it? Meaning, do they get notifications you added them to the thread?

It was supposed to but it didn't seem to work. Bummer.

Did I miss whether you want free images or do you value the images enough to pay for them?

Tagging worked.  Thanks Jackelope.   I'll think about what I have. If I have time and if it's worth the time.
