I had this tag two years ago. I lost almost 15#s during the 12 day season. This was early archery. A 300" bull is a great bull in there and attainable. I passed on a 280ish 5x6 day two and had numerous shots at cows the entire trip but couldn't get it done on Bulls. My goal was 300" or bust and I busted. I did it 100% solo and learned a ton about myself personally and how critters move/respond. This can be nasty country but at least you have a tag and anything can happen at any given moment. Looks like you're in the right areas, already finding elk. Good luck on your trip. It should be great timing for you this year.

Way to go, Cortez-  I have been training too.  Like Greenhead_killer stated, this is a pretty physical hunt!  (I am just hoping that I get the honor of hauling elk quarters out).

Went in two weekends ago to the area we hunt, and saw lots of elk sign.  We are going to hunt in a blind (natural materials) for the first day or two, then attempt some calling in a different area.

Best of luck!

I was in peaches on Saturday and watched 3 bulls buggling until almost 9.  Good luck and tip a monster over.

Count down time. Enjoy your time in the backcountry and come out with a beast. Good luck!

cool GL.
"When my bow falls, so shall the world. When me heart ceases to pump blood to my body, it will all come crashing down. As a hunter, we are bound by duty, nay, bound by our very soul to this world.
