300 grain Hornady XTP
we have been shooting the Speer Deep curl in a MMP sabot since 2011 in our group with amazing reaults.  Somewhere between 30-35 animas taken with them in that time.  They are getting hard to come by so last year we played with the xtp- mag in the same MMP sabot and they shoot identical, and performance on game was just as devistating. Have only recovered a few of the deepcurl bullets but the few that we have have all been 90%+ weight retention and mushroomed perfectly
I haven't tried the mags yet, I'm still using the plain jane xtp's because I always have a few hundred laying around for reloading.

After messaging sabot loader, I decided to give these a try.  I'll be sending some down range in the morning.

Those are awesome bullets... you will not believe the Terminal Performance of these bullets. If you get a chance shoot a gallon milk jug full of water at a 100 - you will not believe the damage...
Keep shooting muzzleloaders - They are a blast!!

It took what seems like forever to get them.  I'm excited to shoot them.

. So this is the group I shot today after adjusting from a 250 to a 300gr bullet.  I shot 100gr of triple 7 333f.  This is at 50 yards.  The next trip I'll jump out to 100 and adjust for a zero there.  The only thing that worries me is that they are not clean holes.  To me it looks like the bullet might have some wobble?

Which sabot were you shooting?  Those bullets are true 458 rifle bullets and have a tighter diameter than ML bullets.  In two of my Knights I use HPH-24 Black sabots instead of the Orange 458 sabots.

The 305 is a long bullet even for a 1/28 twist so if the bullet slips in the sabot or the sabot slips up the bore you may not be getting the rotation you need.

With the HPH-24 I get the grip I need to insure no slippage.

Do you have any HPH-24 sabots?

Sabotloader is simply the man when it comes the ML.  The wealth of information is nothing short of impressive.
It's a TIKKA thing..., you may not understand.

TEZ Barnes 290!!
:yeah:

This is what I use, has worked great for me so far. Ive taken 3 elk, all ran less than 40 yards.
Note...Get the TEZ. The TMZ's are very tight and difficult to load, close to nearly impossible!

are the speer bullets  .45 jacketed  hot core 350g. too much?  I know there's no such thing as too much. But would a 290 be better ?

With open sights and the range you are probably going to shoot the 350 should be a real knock-over bullet.
