Oversize Sturgeon on the Fraser
« on: August 15, 2016, 11:33:54 AM »
Made you look....   ;)

Just packing now and heading out soon, hopefully will have photos to post tomorrow. Unfortunately, it was going to be a dual fish trip with salmon on the menu, until they closed salmon on Friday.   :bash:  I'm looking forward to my son reeling in a fish over two times as long as he is tall.

Keep checking DFO notices. I expect it to open back up soon. Hopefully in the next week.

Unfortunately, that doesn't do us any good since we were up there yesterday....    Our guide says he thinks they closed it to try to make a point regarding what kind of fishing methods they should be using, ie. not using gear that snags fish as easily.  :dunno:

Anyways, we caught a few fish, two smaller one and two large ones.  I need to resize photos and will post later.

How large is large?
We must reject the idea that every time a law's broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.

Our biggest landed was 6 foot.  My son started with it but couldn't gain any line so handed it off to me.  He fought another one later that was maybe a little bigger, but it's first jump it came loose. Our other ones landed were right at 5', 36 inches and about 18 inches.

We went with Chad at FishingtheFraser.com

Looks like a good time! Yes they closed it to protect the sockeye from the bottom bouncers.

Pretty crappy if you ask me, let's punish everyone for the actions of a few instead of getting off of their butts and enforcing their snagging laws!   >:(
