Do you know if they are a member of HuntWa or did they track you down otherwise?

I appreciate everyone's concern.  One of the folks on the camera came to me on Tuesday.  All is well now that there's an open line of communication and perspective.  As was my original intent, not to publicly embarrass anyone.  Hopefully this serves as a public service reminding others to be neighborly.  It can go a long way!  Thankfully, he's a guy with good intentions and this didn't get blown out of proportion!   :)

To be clear, my cameras have been up the better part of 2 years and these folks were never on them before this incident.  Extenuating circumstances and some assumptions on my part were the root of the entire ordeal.

Thanks again to everyone!

In order to clear the air and hopefully rest this topic, I am the now infamous trespasser. I met up with mud last night and as he requested, we shared a couple beers and laughs about the entire ordeal, including my girlfriends trail cam selfies. I was unable to recover the bull, and it still doesn't sit well with me. I am an avid shooter, and I do not regret taking the shot, but I do regret how it turned out. I have to thank mud for his graciousness. As mentioned, we have opened a line of communication which probably would have never occurred. I was completely in the wrong and I have no excuse. I did have permission to hunt the neighboring acreage. Mud and I made a plan to help each other in watching the local herd in order to maximize each others success. I am planning on taking this negative situation and turning it into something positive. If anybody has any other questions or concerns for me, I am always open for a PM.

Yeesh, I'm no saint here.  Let's nominate this guy's parents, they've obviously raised him right.  He stepped up, and faced adversity straight from the start.  He made the trek down my driveway (with a USMC flag flying high) not having a clue how I was going to react in person and has been straightforward since day 1...well, maybe day 2  ;)  I should hope my sons develop this sort of resolve.

I would never have asked him to step out of the shadows like he did on here though.  Speaks volumes of his character.

Edit:  Just wanted to add that I tried to delete this thread yesterday to eliminate all this ruckus, to no avail.  I was only able to edit my posts, so I took down the censored pic of the ppl.

No need to delete..  I think this is a classic for HuntWa..  You handled yourself well with the post and your comments inviting a resolution.  He was able to reach out after seeing it and make good.  You guys resolved it and all is well.  Pretty cool he happened to be a member and it worked out that way. Maybe your restraint and his stand up character will spread to some of the other topics.

This one if for the record books!

A thread titled trespassers and two people being shown to have great character and integrity!  :yike:

Love it.....
We must reject the idea that every time a law's broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.

I try to never judge people by what they do but more by what they do after they realize the error of their ways.  Some will double down and others will come clean.

I would say this case is not the norm and it is actually refreshing to see one that ends this way.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.
