FREE!!! Youth bird hunting opportunities this weekend
« on: September 15, 2016, 01:03:07 PM »
Just saw this on Facebook and figured I'd pass it along. Short notice unfortunately but maybe there's someone who can take advantage of this.

This is my last youth season as the kid will be too old next year.  Hands down the best weekend of the year, and a great tune up for the dog.

What a cool opportunity.  I've got a friend that is volunteering his time and his prize I GWP. Lots of bird's good dog's.  Lucky kids.
Lead em if they're running.

I volunteered to help and received a call today telling me it has been cancelled.

Dangit. That's what I was afraid of.
Not enough kids participating is what I heard was going to cancel it. That's a sad state of affairs.

That's too bad.  I want to know why they did not send a notification to the people on their email list, never saw a thing about it.   :(

A friend told me they posted it somewhere just a few days ago. Seems as though that's likely the problem. I posted it on here a couple times yesterday as sort of a hail mary to see if enough kids would get signed up last minute to keep it alive. Apparently it wasn't enough.

Maybe they should open it up to Mom's and their kids if they are having a numbers problem.  This should fit the agenda of getting more people interested.   :dunno:

This is one disadvantage of living where I do as going to things like this are a much bigger production than average. Unfortunately, my son has not yet been interested in shooting at flying things.

It is disappointing.  I was looking forward to helping out the yoots.  I think the problem was not enough marketing.

I'd think that they would have had it plastered all over Facebook, the internet in general, HuntWA....I mean... I'm pretty sure this forum is not a huge secret to the rest of the WA hunting community. I wish folks would use it more to get stuff like this out there and known about.

yup  :yeah:    Use it to your advantage WDFW!
the first I saw it on the WDFW FB page was Tue or Wed   :bash:

They should have been advertising at all the Hunter Ed courses, sporting stores, www......, etc

I feel bad for the kids that actually signed up for it

It's also the same weekend as the youth duck season, so that divides the number that can participate.

I  just found out the Sept. 17-18 clinic and hunt are still on in Sunnyside (Yakima)!  And there is room left.

Great chance for the kids to learn valuable things and hunt pheasant.

Hmm, the 17 and 18.  Opening turkey, youth duck, youth goose, youth upland, middle of archery.  And you wonder why nobody wants to go shoot farmed birds?  Think this should have been planned a little better.
Right wing shooter, I aim for the left!!!

Nowhere in your incoherent rambling did you come close to what can be considered a rational thought. Everyone is now dumber having heard it. I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul.
