They are West side of I-5

I'm not doing this to debate if they are here, I'm telling you so you can keep your eyes open stay safe out there.

I know some elk hunters out bugling and cow calling, ended up calling in a gray and white wolf this past weekend to 25yds. They are elk hunters so I will not give location however it was in West Lewis county.

I hope they were reported to WDFW and can get confirmed ASAP.  That would be cool to get closer to getting wolves delisted............even though we will likely never be able to hunt them in this state. :bash:
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

:yeah: That could count for one of the southern cascades packs we need. Please get them to report.

I don't see any reason to doubt they are West of I5.  They are getting run over in North Bend and are known to easily and quickly travel hundreds of miles.  It's just a matter of time.

I ran into some random bios doing a predator study with trail cams...next day found a random dog track that was crazy suspicious

The elk hunting reminded me of after the gospel wilderness got hit hard by wolves...not good...I'll know for sure this winter

This was south cascades

Reporting sightings to WDFW is great. Do so here: http://wdfw.wa.gov/conservation/gray_wolf/reporting/

But a picture of an animal or at least a picture of a track with a lighter or tape measure for size comparison is even better. I've heard credible reports of wolves in the Naches and in the upper Snoqualmie watershed this fall. But nothing to confirm them or really get the Dept out there looking without credible evidence on top of just reports.

The Dept is still projecting 2021 as the year statewide recovery goals are met per their modeling. Ending 2016 with a pack confirmed in the South Cascades and west of the Crest could move that estimate up.

I'm working on getting one confirmed in western whatcom/ skagit.  I've given them three pics now in the last year, I was told if I can get two in the same frame we could look at confirming a pack

In 05 they were given pics of a whole pack on a Nooksack bar with track pics and everything. They didn't do squat. DNA hair samples are all they will take and you had better keep some to keep them honest.

With Weyco and several other timber companies now locking up the land and limiting the number of hunters you can be guaranteed three things I think.

1. There will be a ton of big game in those areas in a few more years.
2. When wolves get into those lands their population will explode.
3. Chaos will ensue in all of the areas surrounding timber company land since the wolves will effectively have a safe haven by virtue of extremely limited hunting and the state being unable to manage them since they'll be on private property.

Here's a story of a wolf recently killed in Montana that traveled 700 miles from Washington.  There are plenty of other incidences of wolves traveling long ranges.

They did not release any wolves.

I hope they hurry up and get on with recovery over there.
