Two for Two with the boys
« on: October 24, 2016, 08:52:42 AM »
The Colville trip was a success.  Thank you to the Safari Club of Seattle.  They gave a great opportunity to several youth hunters on a private 500 acres.  My oldest son was able to take his first "doe" with his great-grandpa's 1907 Springfield -06 with his grandpa (my dad) sitting with him.  Ended up being a 2 year old button buck.  The land owner was happy to have it culled out.

My younger son got it done Friday afternoon in the rain.  40 yard broadside shot, double lung with his 7mm-08.  He learned a valuable lesson...wounded animals run downhill.  She killed over at the bottom of a 40 foot deep ravine.  He helped quarter her out since we weren't dragging her up that hill in the rain.

All in all a great weekend and the freezer is full.

What a weekend for the kids.  Congrats to both boys.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

Every father should remember that one day his children will follow his example instead of his advice.
