I agree with you Bone, the square rack does it for me. If I had an ideal mule deer rack it be as tall as it is wide and SQUARE, with great brow tines and thick/trashy bases. Couldn't give one crap about the score.

Because I'd kill him in the Kiabab, Sonora, Alberta, the Pauns, in 45, the Henry's, anywhere I had a tag.   Bases like that, eye guards, his age, size, square frame.  The way he acts.  I wouldn't care if he was a forkie.  Old recessed buck.  Old gray ghost.
If that doesn't meet your criteria....sorry.   The fact I had to explain it means it doesn't.   That's fine.

Thanks for the response on why you think it's a world class buck.

I feel like a world class buck is one any hunter anywhere would target. And most hunters aren't going to target that buck in any of the places you listed. It's an old regressed buck. Lots of old regressed bucks get killed every year. Nothing world class about them.

Regards, Branden

We get it.....you wall is filled with world class bucks Branden.  Some of us hunters consider lesser bucks (in your eyes) world class.  I am super glad we all feel differently about what world class is.....otherwise we would all be chasing the same deer.   ;)  I think you made your point loud and clear....you would not kill a deer of this caliber as it is below you.  Rather than throw stones and then be passive agressive by saying thanks and regards.....just post pics of some of your world class bucks so the forum can enjoy your post as much as they enjoy bones.

Cheers   :brew:

I never said I wouldn't kill it. I said I wouldn't kill it on any of the world class units bone listed. Big difference. I also said its a mature buck. I just think the thread title is very very misleading. World class means among the best in the world. Sorry that deer doesn't have the most mass, tine length, width, anything to make it among the best in the world.

Again it's a mature buck, but nothing about it is "best in the world or among best in the world".

I posted video of some bucks and bulls I've seen this year. None were "world class" though.  ;)

Regards, Branden.
This post is ridiculous.  :twocents:

Anytime a buck is up and over that 40" of mass mark he is an exceptional animal in my eyes!  Nice find Doug!

Absolute world class road in my books! Awesome pics bone! Sucks people have to get into a battle over such little things in life..... It's all a personal preference, any "mature" buck should be awesome in anyone's book!

Old open country bucks in particular are really cool.  They really are the ninjas of the mule deer world, any buck that makes it to 4 1/2 years in the Columbia Basin is a wise old buck that is incredibly hard to hang a tag on outside of the rut, and is still hard to hang a tag on during the rut.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.
