Nice! I need to build myself one of those. A couple spots I trap are 1/4 mile walk in and packing beavers that far by hand is no fun.

My family collects old school packs for some reason.im rocking what the old timers will probably know as a "trapper nelson" we use them for deer and elk hunting to they work great just terribly uncomfortable!

Did you apply drainage holes in the bottom? Looks like it might get very heavy retrieving water fur or when trapping in the rain.

Yea I put some drain holes in the bottom but as far as weight it's pretty light.  I could make it lighter with some lighter wood like poplar but I used what I had around the house and was able to make it without purchasing anything.

Since the cage traps came in I find very little use for my packbasket. I mostly loop a piece of rope through the trap and hang it over my shoulder. Pulaski in one hand and if I need bait a small bucket in the other.
With my collapsible traps I can carry up to 4 of the big ones at a time. Of course I am not as a rule trapping rats so a basket might be the ticket for collapsible colonies.

I got this one to try this year and so far so good the only mods I've done was made a plug for the drain hole that is removable and I'm adding some pouches on the outside to hold lure and such

I made one I really like out of a trash can and an ALICE pack and frame.

I never liked a basket for packing out larger stuff like beaver and otter. Usually use a piece of rope over the shoulder.

I'm currently making my own bag for my pack frame. I'm going with a soft bag not a bucket design because I want to be able to compress it and strap a few swim threws or other traps and still have all my tools/wire and lure. I'll post pics when it's finished
