Oregon elk poachers.
« on: November 30, 2016, 02:23:20 AM »
Really sad to see 2 bulls poached, left to waste in Union County. (pic has 1 of the Bulls)

A bull and cow poached, left to waste in Columbia County. (both bull and cow in pic)

This was in the last week.

Friend sent the pics without a link to the story. I'll post a link when I get it. Or someone might Google it before I get a reply. :dunno:

There's an article on northwest sportsmen Facebook page. A man and female were arrested for assistance and the 3rd person, a male is wanted. They think he may of left the state. They also found another set of horns I believe from an animal he poached a few years ago but it's past statue of limitations to charge him fully so they can only charge him with illegal possession of the horns or something like that. Hope he's arrested soon.

So very sad....I hear the poachers are from Elgin. Only a matter of time before the 3rd poacher turns up.

Tagging. I think I actually have parked and hunted from the exact spot in the last few pictures. Any link to the article as to where besides just the county it occurred?

Update,  they have all three in custody!  Scum of the earth!

Poaching is bad enough, but leaving the meat is what really pisses me off!!

Hope they rot in jail.

I'd agree, there isn't a Yak I know that would've left meat. Now shooting from a great distance and not following up is different. But that close and accessible,  nope.

a coleville and Yakama tribal member shot (with a 22 mag) and left 4 cows and two bulls to rot in the Wenas 5 years agoin a neighbor's pasture. 30 yds from the road. caught but not prosecuted. both back to road hunting

I recall this, you better call wdfw on the Colville as he was turned over to them and the Yak was convicted in tribal court. It took couple years as the person skipped out and warrant went out.

This is true poaching and its sick. Comparing this kind of poaching to the bullwinkle case is a joke this is exponentially worse.

I would call this just plain o'l Killing, not poaching. At least a poacher usually takes something, head gear, meat something.

 :yeah:

I can't get his link to work. He's going to send it to me again. 2 young men and a young women did 2 of them. I'm not sure if they did all 4 because I guess the counties are spread out? It's really hard to understand the reasoning behind this.

Elk murder charges would be appropriate.

There were a couple brothers from the Hoh that would shoot up any herd in the Clearwater that was unlucky enough to be seen from the road.  They had a little semi-auto .308 and would leave casings all over the roads.  Game Warden in Forks couldn't do anything.

I can't condone it, but can at least understand poaching if you salvage the meat (for personal use only, not to sell) and don't leave a visible mess.  What happened in the OP though is just wanton waste and pointless killing.

There is very little poaching going on for subsistence. The vast majority of people brought up on poaching charges are either wanton wasters/thrill killers or illegal meat and product sellers.

I have a lot of respect for elk. These bulls and the cow survived archery season, rifle season and outsmarted or just got lucky with the many predators trying daily to make these elk into a meal. And winter is coming on to make their life miserable until spring. Then they maybe let their guard down a little and some worthless SOB's come along just to kill them. This just makes me sad to know that I share this planet with people like that.
