6.5x47 lapua
:yeah: or a 6.5x.284

Brass is hard to get and expensive for both of them....
My buddy is in the scrap business... don't think he buys it at an expensive rate... matter of fact he got 20 gallons of reloadable brass (cartridge type) for cost melt weight.
In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

Was that a no to the 8mm option. Always wanted a 8mm Rem Mag
Not this time :chuckle:  Wanting something that burns a bit less powder and a bit less bullet.  I agree though, I almost bought an 8mm on here a while back even.

Always buy good brass if you can find it.  It's def worth it and if prepped and treated well it is the gift that keeps on giving :chuckle:

Anybody running a 6.5-06ai?  It has sparked my interest.  Sounds like some guys are getting 3200 out of 140gr pills  :dunno:

If you didn't want to burn less powder and create a monster. You can go 8mm necked down to 6.5 which is the 6.5 STW. I started running one last year and it killed many animals this year.

If you want cheap go for the smaller 6.5's....creedmoor...or 6.5x47.....if going for speed I'd skip the 06 or 285 case and just get rite to it with the ultra mag cases or stw.....270 ultra, 6.5 ultra, 6.5 stw,257 stw

I vote 6.5X284 for you. If the intended goal for satisfactory fun is 1K yds plus, the bullets may be a bit light.
All of the short cases are getting the accolades for accuracy and consistency. Of your listed choices, that would seem the best mix of both.
I would lean towards a larger bore for the extreme long range, .284 or .308. Unfortunately most of the recipes on those bores are fairly played out.
If you want good brass at a good price,. . . . . was there a 7mm WSM or Rem. SAUM? That would stay true at the longer range better than 6.5 and still give pretty good velocity.
FWIW  Son and I both shoot 300WSM and have excellent loads built using Superformance powder. This formula really seems to show consistency with the short case at top velocity. We are using hunting bullets 180gr and 165gr, have not yet tried any heavier slugs.

Hunting- 99% waiting walking listening and looking, 1% stalking and shooting.  Just do it!

6.5-284 brass is on the shelf at cabelas every time I go in there.... plenty of other places have it as well. Quality brass is never cheap either

I've never, ever seen 6.5x284 brass of any sort, on any shelf, in any store. Or, 6.5x47.
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............

I've got the 300wsm covered.  Currently running 190 lrab but picked up a few boxes of some other heavies to test out because I get bored :chuckle:

Looks they have or can get brass and loaded ammo...but it will cost you...
