Seriously you should put together a trappers cook book

Or maybe every one puts their favorite recipes in and it could be a WSTA fundraiser deal ??

Most of my family is from Minnesota with Norwegian bloodline. I'm not a real picky eater but there is some things I just cannot grasp the idea of eating that my dad loves. Things like liver and lutefisk and also pig's head are some of his favorites. Not me.

Yeah, maybe. I don't really have much for recipes though. That sausage recipe is a good all around one that can be used for any meat. I'm still trying to think of different ways to use the beaver meat. I do like the idea of doing a higher temp jerky. I love jerky but that's the one thing I still cannot make to my liking. It's always OK but never awesome like it should be.

No cats today (one trap had a closed door with nothing in it) but I did get some fur none the less. That one edge set produced again! Got a bigger beaver ( I'm guessing between 30-40lbs) in the exact same spot and got a muskrat in a trap that was about 100 yards upstream on an edge set as well. That trap was on a random edge that was about 3 feet deep and just a sheer bank. Also had another trap just a little farther upstream in a perfect bottleneck spot I thought would produce and today it had the doors closed and nothing in it.
I went out to my other two prebaits I didn't get to check yesterday and one had some cat sign as well. I brought two more cages with today so I just put them both at the prebaits. Should start producing some cats soon enough.

No keepers today. Had to let go two coho and pull the traps from that Creek. Plus there is skunks at two of cat sets so I'm going to have to make some small traps to take care of them.
Also had a first for me today as well. Went to check my last water set and as I'm getting closer I see I'm walking in brand new elk tracks from the day before. My fears were correct when I got to the trap. The herd crossed right there and stepped directly on the trap. It's fixable but still bent up enough to where I had to take it home and do some metal work.
"Protector of Wildlife"?   I felt it wasn't worth calling the sheriff.   :chuckle:
