I pulled all my cat sets on Tuesday and decided to try a different spot I have never trapped before and today I got good size female. Its a spot I've known of for years and always thought it would be a perfect spot for my double door trap. It's a grown up but we'll used small game trail that I just bottlenecked the cage with brush so there was no easy way to go down the path without having to go in the cage. Put some bait in there as well.
Pulled all my traps today through. Might be real busy this week with stump work. Also got another civet yesterday. I'm still amazed how many of those darn things are actually in the woods. Almost seems like they have a larger population than squirrels or rabbits but yet you never see them unless your a Trapper.

I think I'll need to sell this cat for like $200 to make up for my  fuel bill the last two weeks! Considering it's a coastal red cat, that's not happening.  :bash:

Good job Jesse. Nice to see fur in the trap. Yes there seems to be alot of spooted skunk in my area to. I will make alot of solid Galv. traps for them next season. We have lots of scrap sheetmetal in Alum, S Steel, and Galv. Congrats

Yeah, I should have been a little more prepared for skunks this season. If I get a chance this week I'm going to build some more 6x6x21 Marten traps and use them for the skunks.

Yup, plenty of time and the closer it gets to April, the more likely cats will go in cages.

Took the back straps and tenderloins from the cat and cut them into small chunks and then fried it with just some onions, salt, pepper and a little garlic powder with some Heinz 57 and sweet and sour sauce.
Wow, is all I have to say. Tastes close to pork but with a better texture and doesn't seem dry like pork often does. I'd say it's like a cross between pork and beef and zero game flavor. Very delicious!
I got it all cooked up and talked my daughter into trying one little piece after trying for like ten minutes to convince her it tastes like the pork we had last night. After one bite she's all " Daddy, can I have the rest of the meat? I think I like it now!"   :chuckle: She ended up eating probably half of what I cooked up. I've never had cougar but everyone who has tells me how awesome it is and I'm thinking it's probably real similar to Bobcat. Probably the best tasting small game IMO.

Hmmm looks just like the "chicken" teriyaki I got last night in Monroe, coincidentally there's like a dozen missing cat flyers up around  :dunno:
