moses lake depth
« on: December 27, 2016, 11:05:28 AM »
is the depth on moses pretty shallow and consistent? as far as walking out on the ice and fishing for perch i understand certain areas are better but looking at maps it looks like the bottom is pretty shallow and flat.  total opposite of soda lake haha

North end by the AFB is fair flat and between 12-20 ft deep.  West End south of I90 a mile or so it 30 fow.  The arm south and east of I90 is like 6-8 deep.  This is all off the top of my head from running a boat around it.

There's a couple of good reasons the fishermen cluster in one spot on the lake.

1) ease of close parking
2) mud bottom

This.... the area around the I90 bridge gets to about 36' deep. the upper portion where guys are ice fishing is about 22' deep with a flat mud bottom. on the 23rd the ice was about 6" thick

Why do people congregate at the area with a mud bottom?

Moses lake is almost all mud for one. also access at the I-90 bridge is very good. there is a park right there.

Chironomid larva aka bloodworms.  The perch eat that in the winter time.
