Saw one ten days ago, probably best to wait until mid May for quality. Pretty skinny on that snow drift

Thanks for the advice. Any recipes though? Would a stew be best?

I've never cooked one, but if I did, i'd do it like I do for squirrel or rabbit. Brown it in oil the put in the crock pot for a stew, and add dumplings at the end of cooking.

I ate one when I was young and dumb. I killed it with a rock. It's recommended one know their way around an oven before cooking. Mine had some spots on it that was overcooked. I have not kept one since. My uncle used to hunt them in Pennsylvania and I would run out and bring them back. The family that lived next to our cabin ate them.
