HB 1387
« on: February 15, 2017, 06:37:05 AM »
Not sure if this needs to go in off topics or advocacy, so please move if necessary. This was shared to me by the owner of an indoor range in Spokane - Sharp Shooting Indoor Range

All my friends call the representatives on this list below and POLITELY let them know you oppose HB 1387. That is the bill that requires registration on Modern sporting rifles and Standard capacity magazines. I just called everyone on the list, you should too! They vote on it tomorrow, make sure and contact them today!

HEY WASHINGTON STATE GUN OWNERS!
The Washington State Legislature is trying to take away your freedoms! THIS IS NOT JUST for AR's FOLKS! Do you like your 17 round Glock as a home defense weapon? Not for long if the people who speak on your behalf in Olympia have thier way.

How does this grab ya?:
 * Pay a $50 initial registration?
 * Pay an annual $30 license?
 * Say goodbye to 10+ round magazines?
 * If inacted, after 2020, a legal owner could only sell their "assault" weapon to a licensed dealer, a gunsmith, or to law enforcement for permanent relinquishment and destruction.

Right here:

https://www.nraila.org/articles/20170213/washington-gun-control-bills-to-be-voted-on-in-house-committee

That's about all you can expect out them.  It is up to the citizens of WA state to put pressure on our reps and head this off.

Only 5% were registered in New York and 15% in Connecticut when this law was enacted a few years ago. The citizens of Connecticut actually dared the governor to try and seize them. The governor quickly and wisely backed down, and now it is just another paper gun control measure. " We Refuse To Comply" really does work, We The People just need to stand together. Remind your representatives of these facts in your emails.

It was shot down in committee but the safe storage bill 1122 has passed the house.

So if this passes, and someone breaks into your locked house and steals your bedside protection while your sleeping gun and then goes out and commits a crime.....you now become a felon losing all your gun rights...sounds good to me,said no gun owner in his right mind. Here's a question about this bill,if someone breaks into your locked house, steals your bedside gun and you report it...are you now a felon?

It's poorly written as are most gun control control bills. I think safe storage (trigger locks, safes, etc.) is a moral decision and should not be legislated. If someone breaks in your house and steals your unsecured hidden gun they likely had the time to break into your safe. If your kids get your guns and cause harm to them self or others there are consequences and your storage method should reflect your choice.

This will pass because no firearm owners, hunters or sportsman stand together.People won't show up to testify or have a protest maybe the NRA should hire all the people that took the day off yesterday.Thats a example of standing together.,or the woman who marched on washington.

I believe HB 1122 in its amended form passed on to the House but has not yet been voted on by the full House.  Perhaps someone with a better understanding of this process can correct me if I'm wrong.

Proposed Substitute HB 1122 (H-1857.2/17):

In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.
