Looking to try a new light load pistol powder. Maybe Unique or Win 231, hoping for cleaner burning than Bullseye, Ideas?

I've had good results with Titegroup for .45LC, HP-38 and Accurate No. 2 for 9mm.

Unique has always been pretty dirty in my firearms but W231 isn't to bad.

Titegroup is a good clean powder, but personally I don't think it is a good choice for Magnum revolver cartridges, I have used it with less than ideal results in .357, and .44 mag. So I quit using it in those calibers. It is great for 9MM, .40, and .38 special though.

I use tightgroup in 9mm and .40 and like it, tried 700x to, doesn't seem to meter quite as well, but still a decent powder for my plinking loads and steel shooting.
I think my dad is using unique in his 40 right now.

Bought a pound of Titegroup loaded about 300 rounds yesterday, try it out tomorrow. Wad cutters at about 750 fps and semi wadcutters at about 850fps. in 357.
thanks for your input

Unique is the dirtiest powder that I have ever used. I was getting a fair amount of fouling with Bullseye until i switched to a completely jacketed bullet. I started running the cheap Rainier bullets for target practice that have a thin copper jacket covering the rear of the bullet and it solved my problem. I recovered some Winchester bullets that I reloaded with Bullseye (lead exposed rear) and portions of the rear of the bullet where melted, resulting in significantly more fouling.

As a cleaner replacement for Bullseye, try Clays. It's available locally and in the same burn rate range, and works well for the same types of loads. Many of the suggestions above are not.

I keep a jug of Tightgroup on hand because of how well it works in so many pistol cartridges. One thing to know about it though is that it can be hard on plastics and powder coat. Don't be leaving it in the hopper of your powder thrower for an extended amount time. Another powder for you to try is BE-86. I really like it for 38 specials and mid level 357 mag loads with 160gr RNFP lead bullets.

Vihtavuori N320 works for me in everything from 9mm to 45acp. I like it better than Titegroup.
