« on: March 05, 2017, 01:18:37 PM »
I just acquired a rifle in this caliber . Know absolutely nothing about it. Does any one have experience toying with one?

Thanks

Almost the same as the creedmoor, just a little longer.  What rifle is it?  If you are lucky you'll be able to seat the bullets out there, but most actions don't allow it.  Are you a reloader?

Not a reloader. So stuck with factory loads for now .
It's the Remington 700 VTR
Won it on a raffle last night.

Great rifle and personally I would prefer it over the creedmoor.   Congrats should be a good rifle for you.  It's a 308 necked down to 6.5mm bullets.

.243, .260, 7mm-08 all use the same .308 case, just necked down. ;)

Love the chambering, wife and daughter run one, I steal it every now and again. We run factory fodder, 120 fusions and 120 tsx's both same poi, both good killers.

Thanks for the input, honestly don't know anyone's who has ever used this chambering. Sounds like it's a keeper tho. Appreciate it.

It's dang near a 6.5x55 Swede,  great round for over a hundred years, the Swede that is.

It's a great cartridge, but factory ammo choices are less than spectacular. This would be a great time to start reloading.

Great round for just about anything. Tons of other top-end 264 chamberings out there but that one should be perfect for just about anyone.
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

260 REM is one of my favorites. Congrats.
