This is an old Model 94 Winchester in 30-30 caliber.Reputedly once owned by Chief Spokane. I have no way to confirm that but that is the story I have been told.It was purchased by my Uncle when he was going to Washington State Veterinary College after he got out of the service during WWII so late '40s. He left it with my Grandmother and her second husband used it to commit suicide. Later on when he was living in Oakville he gave it to my Dad in lieu of rent. At one point in the early '50s my Dad lent it to a friend. Times were tough I guess because he ran out of ammo after wounding a deer and whacked the deer with the gun to kill it.Bent the magazine and damaged the barrel. my dad took it to a gunsmith and they cut the barrel and magazine off. barrel is about 18" long and the magazine only holds three rounds. I used it when I started hunting. My Dad took it and had a peep sight put on it. Used to have buckhorn sights. Wish now he hadn't done it but he was thinking of me so can't fault him.Killed a number of deer with it but never an elk. That had to wait 'till the next gun.
