Just thought it would be fun to hear some others history.

Here is mine. Side lock 12 ga that came from Texas to the NW on a wagon when my mom's family homesteaded here. Don't know exact time frame but know it was late 19th century.

1917 Eddystone, given to me by my mom who got it from her dad, who inherited it from his mom (my great grandmother).  From what I'm told it belonged to my great grandfather and after he passed away my great grandmother kept it around the house "for protection".  My grandpa said he'd never fired it, and I know my mom never did, so the last time it was fired was by my great grandfather, I'm guessing back in the 1930s-40s ish...?

This is an old Model 94 Winchester in 30-30 caliber.
Reputedly once owned by Chief Spokane. I have no way to confirm that but that is the story I have been told.
It was purchased by my Uncle when he was going to Washington State Veterinary College after he got out of the service during WWII so late '40s. He left it with my Grandmother and her second husband used it to commit suicide.
Later on when he was living in Oakville he gave it to my Dad in lieu of rent. At one point in the early '50s my Dad lent it to a friend. Times were tough I guess because he ran out of ammo after wounding a deer and whacked the deer with the gun to kill it.
Bent the magazine and damaged the barrel. my dad took it to a gunsmith and they cut the barrel and magazine off. barrel is about 18" long and the magazine only holds three rounds.
I used it when I started hunting. My Dad took it and had a peep sight put on it. Used to have buckhorn sights. Wish now he hadn't done it but he was thinking of me so can't fault him.
Killed a number of deer with it but never an elk. That had to wait 'till the next gun.

1922 Colt pre-woodsman.  Family gun.  When my grandmother moved out of her house she discovered the gun cabinet she thought was empty had guns in it!  I was given all of them.  This Colt, a 1928 Win 16ga model 12 (a turkey slaying machine!), a Rem Mdl 11 12ga, a Savage .22 bolt action, and a S&W .38 from the '50s that was my great(?) uncle's.  Uncle Buck.  Supposed to have been his service pistol from working at the WW state pen.  Came with an envelope (with the red/white/blue line border) that said "Buck's pistol."

I received an LC Smith 10 gauge, circa 1881 from a friend, mentor and fellow instructor.
It's been inspected by a reputable gunsmith familiar with old damascus firearms and put into limited field service.
I assemble low pressure, non tox, short 10 ammo and add a little boot leather to put pheasant and waterfowl in the bag with it.

In the 1960's I did some control work in WI and borrowed an old drilling from a fellow and fell in love with the gun.  A few years back I found a duplicate for it and just had to have it.  It shoots well both on the trap range and rifle range, I've had to do some restoration/major repair work on it and haven't hunted with it YET.  Born in 1907   16ga/16ga/9.3x72R

L to R   .243, 6.5x58R Sauer, 9.3x72R

Starting out with a drilling for predators in my youth left a life long love for them.  Here is another that I resurrected from the scrap heap kind of a youngster, born in 1926  16ga/16ga/6.5x58*R Sauer(see above).  Unlike the one above this is one of my favorite coyote hunting guns and very accurate.

1920 LaFever 20ga.  Grandpa bought it at a garage sale in 1952.  Took it to a gunsmith on top of the Fredrick and Nelson Department store in downtown Seattle and had the stock and barrel cut to fit a kid.  My Dad, myself, and both of my kids learned to shoot shotguns with it.  My son killed several pheasants with it as well.
