I scrubbed the heck out of the bore, both my 6.5 & 6mm Creedmoor American Predator barrels were way dirty. I fired one and clean for five rounds. Then three and clean for five groups, then I just shot it. I used Butches Bore shine and double checked for copper with a couple patches of Whipe Out.

All in all, very impressive rifle for $369.00 bucks!!!  Nothing sexy about it, it just shoots.
MagPul also announced they are doing a stock for it. Same as the one they do for the Remington 700.

My go to load.👍

42gr of RL17 got me 103fps more speed than 42gr of H4350 with no pressure signs in my rifle.

It even slummed the plain vanilla Hornady Interlocks well.

It also shot the SST's under half MOA at 200 yards.

Do you use a chamber guide when cleaning or just being careful.

On the Predators I just use a quality coated rod. No chamber guide.

How's the factory comb height on that Ruger. Any issues with flex in the stock when sitting on a bipod.

I didn't do any break in to speak of on my 6.5 RAR Predator - just shot it. After ~ 50 rounds or so, it fouls very little if any. Nothing wrong with a good break-in though if a guy wants too, and it won't hurt if you're careful with the cleaning rod.

A bore guide is definitely a good idea. I cringe when I hear people recommend coated rods though; I work in a durability test lab and it's very common to see plastic/rubber parts wear through steel and aluminum if there's any dust or dirt in the area.

fishngame- The factory comb height is pretty low, about where you'd want it for iron sights. These rifles do benefit from some sort of cheek riser for scope use.

Well...load develpement has started.  This rifle will flat out shood.  It likes pretty much anything I throw at it.  I have been slowly working up my powder loads and have these two almost identical groups.  One group is H4350 41 grains and the other is Reloader 17 42 grains.  I will chrono the RL17 and play with seating depth to see if it tightens up a little more.  If it doesn't I will be perfectly happy with this group and start shooting at longer ranges.   Getting pretty excited to whack a bear this year using this rifle.

Good chance adjusting your seating depth in 20 thou increments. Will start to tighten that up, then fine tune from there. The Creedmoor is just one of those cartridges that shoots well across the board.

This is the results of R17 42 grains pushing 140 grain accubonds.  Best group was a 3 shot group 0.26".

How does R17 do with temp changes.  I was shooting in about 60 degree weather today.  I will be hunting in temps from 20-80 degrees.   Can I expect much difference in performance with temp swings?

Jrebel,

Did you adjust the parallax on that scope. Shifting your head position on the stock with incorrect parallax can cause groups to string like that. Just a thought, it may not be the load? Great groups. Proper parallax adjustment and consistent position and hold can really tighten things up.

That is pretty good. You might check out the RL16. From what I hear, you get the same results as RL17, but the 16 is more temperature stable. I haven't seen it in any stores, but I know you can get it from Midsouth Shooters or Midway.

Finally got to stretch my range as I am pretty sure I have completed the load developement.

Here are my groups from 200 and 300 yards in less than ideal weather (Gusty wind all morning).  Still pretty impressive groups.

Here is the 200 yard 4 shot group.....I should have stopped with 3 shots  :chuckle: :chuckle:.  Pretty sure that low shot was me...not the gun.

Here are the 300 yard groups.

300 yard 3 shot group. 300 yard 2 shot group. First 5 shots fired ar 300 with this rifle and I am sold. Variations from the two groups are due to me learning my turrets / elevation and trying to hold for wind on the second (2 shot) group.

They are really fun once you roll about 10 mils into the scope.

First blood with my 6.5 creedmoor. Got this Eastern Oregon bear at 409 yards. One shot and he was doing cart wheels down the hill.

I've been eyeballing new rifles to use for longer range bear hunting, 4-600 yards would be all I'm comfortable shooting, the more I see people hunting with the 6.5, I might just use mine to fill that niche for a year or 2!

Nice bear there too btw.
