Shore fishing Long lake(spokane)
« on: May 26, 2017, 06:58:05 PM »
So the boat is in the shop until next weekend and my buddy and I are wanting to do some shore fishing at Long. Don't have a solid agenda, but probably throw so jerk baits and plastics for bass. Maybe jig for some walleye. Anyone have any tips for fishing this area this time of year? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Get your discovery pass. And head past tumtum. There are some turn outs with access. Most of that lake seems to be private access  unless by boat. ??
If you go below the dam it can be fun fishing depending on water flow. I've caught bass. Wallys and squaw fish there. And perch

The river's been high and fast a lot longer this year. I went down a couple time the last couple week but where I usually fish is still underwater and I kept getting hung up in the submerged brush. About this time last year I was catching bass and walleye off the shore below the dam.

I usually take a kayak and go out 45-50 yards off shore and cast a jig towards the shore line and catch small mouth and an occasional walleye. When I get hung up I can get it out very easy just by paddling back to where it gets stuck. Long lake is great for small and large mouth bass. You can jig from shore to and do just fine. You may lose a few jigs though in the process. Good luck to you!

Went to long today. Got there a little after sun up fished until 11. Did ok, beats sitting at home. The wife took care of the baby and I got out for a bit. Usually camping memorial weekend but thought it would be tough with a one month old baby, lol.
