Eastside (Wenatchee area ) Grouse
« on: October 11, 2007, 01:22:36 PM »
Okay, so I guess I have to wait a few days to wander the state looking for the on lone pheasant I can take a crack at...so in the meantime I think I'll go out for a bit o' grouse huntin'....anybody hunt them in the wenatchee valley area?

Someone in another post mentioned going north of wenatchee..."okie"?

Thanks!

I'm looking at a map trying to plan a bit...I see a variety of "wildlife areas" including Chilliwist, Pogue Moutain, Loup Loup state forest, scotch creek to name a few...no anything about those?

not much...but if there's woods, i'd almost guarantee there's grouse.
whats the worst that could happen? head out and explore. those are all areas i'd love to get to know if i wasn't on the other side of the mountains.

Lot of grouse around Twisp.

Loop Loop has a ton of grouse, lots of big blues.

Any where around Bonapart, too.
If you think you can or think you can't, you're right.

If your in Wenatchee, take highway 2 west and go up the Little Wenatchee or the Chiwawa drainages, lots of ruffs and if you are lucky a Spruce Grouse

Another place to look would be out in the clockum area.  Or the area up around clear or lily lakes, just outside of Wenatchee.  It can be harder to access during the winter though, your best bet would be earlier in the season.
