Thanks Gov.Where does it say free hunting and fishing on that day? 9/23/2017 is also the date for National Youth Hunting and Fishing Day this year, maybe this has something to do with that, not everything is sinister and evil, although I do find it odd that Inslee actually signed this. The main state sponsored event this year is at Camp Pigott in Snohomish county on that day. We will also have a local version on 9/16/2017 in East Wenatchee at the North Central Washington Gun Club that is being organized by the Wenatchee Sportsmen's Association. Both events are from 10:00am to 3:00pm and are free and should be fun with shooting and information available on all kinds of related subjects.
Bob33,You asked who helped to get the Washington Hunting and Fishing Day Proclamation issued. Washingtonians for Wildlife Conservation and the Congressional Sportsmen's Foundation co-sponsored the request both years and will likely continue to do so. The Proclamation is a step forward in helping to educate the general public about the contributions made by the hunting and fishing communities to wildlife conservation and wildlife management. It's working to help change the perception of hunting in a positive way; many people simply don't know the facts.
Thanks for posting this Proclamation. It's the second year we've been able to get this in Washington; it's a big deal.Information from the Congressional Sportsmen's Foundation:National Hunting and Fishing Day Proclamation Resource Centerhttp://sportsmenslink.org/resource-center/national-hunting-and-fishing-day-proclamation-resource-centerLink to the Washington State Proclamation: http://sportsmenslink.org/uploads/home/Washington_National_Hunting_and_Fishing_day_2017.pdfThe Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife is also active in promoting this special day:http://wdfw.wa.gov/hunting/huntered/hunt_fish_day.html National Hunting and Fishing Day CelebrationSeptember 23, 2017, 9:00am to 4:00pmCamp Pigott24225 Woods Creek RoadSnohomish, WA 98290"The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) is hosting a National Hunting and Fishing Day celebration. This family oriented event is a great way to introduce youth to target shooting, hunting and fishing. It's also an opportunity to recognize that hunters and anglers are and will continue to be among the most active supporters of wildlife management and conservation."
