Hunting from a blind

Not sure I am posting this in the correct forum but here it is anyway. So come next month during modern season I was thinking about hunting from a ground blind during my deer hunt. I have read that I need to make it look as natural as possible and that it helps if I can set the blind up a few weeks before hunt. Has or does anyone else hunt deer from a blind? Have you been successful or would I be better just sitting somewhere over looking a clear cut? And my last question is if I do hunt from blind during modern do I have to have blaze orange on top of the blind so it can be seen?

I have never hunted from an artificial ground blind. Have always been able to find something natural to blend in with. Have used treestands at times. Seems to me if you are going to make the effort to pack in a blind a treestand would make more sense unless you are in an area with no trees. And I'm pretty sure if you are wearing the orange you are required to on your body there isn't a need to put it on your blind.

As stated, not required to orange your blind, but it may be a really good idea depending on where you are.

   It may also steer hunters on foot away from your blind if they see the orange. 

Brushing in the blind is a great idea, as is getting it in place as early as possible.  You stand a decent chance of having it stolen though.  Don't expect that other hunters will respect your gear.  They might, but they might not, and that is reason enough not to leave a blind too long where it might be found.

I'd read some articles on the pros and cons of using a blind.  They can be very effective, but I find that I always want to see the hidden areas beyond the windows that are closed.  It drives me nuts.

For rifle season, I would not bother with a blind, especially on public land. It's pretty easy to maneuver a gun into position w/o a blind when needed.  Having said that, if I was with a kid on private land, I'd set u[p a blind, and have with my son.  He's been shooting a crossbow though so close was the plan.

It did work fine for an old hunter who set up camp up the entiat at silver falls creek in a old school bus. He always had bucks hanging. I miss him.

Wear ear protection, the rifle going off inside the blind will ring your ears. I use power muffs so I can hear too. I don't brush my blinds in to much the deer get use to them.

I use them for muzzy.

For rifle on NF lands we just find a nice tree and pile down fall in front of our seat.

Used the same spots for years.
