Lincoln Peak Goat Down
« on: September 25, 2017, 09:40:48 PM »
I will start off with I am not much for big long stories.  This once in a lifetime goat hunt started with a letter I received in the mail one Saturday morning.  It was from the Wa fish and game and I was thinking it was the permit for a cow tag I drew.  As I opened it and read "you have been selected for a mountain goat permit".  My first thought was "funny" which one of my hunting partners is playing a joke on me because I checked online when everything was coming out like every year.  I thought I seen not selected on everything but a cow permit.  So I re checked and seen selected for goat on line.  Holy cow this might be true.  So sent a pic of the letter to a couple hunting buddies.  They were like you said you did not draw anything but a cow tag.  Still in amazement that I missed it.  The next words from those two were when we going we're all in on this deal.  So special thanks to Cody(browngoingdown) and Jason(scroder).  Could not of completed this adventure without you guys.   I am really fortunate to have 2 hunting buddy's to take there vacation days to hike into some country that is steep and unforgiving.  They busted there ass to help and also keep me motivated. Also thanks to "ShaneVg" for the info and giving me guidance on all my guestions.  Helping out a complete stranger.  Don't come across people like that very often.  Anyways the hunt was short and sweet.  I was able to harvest a very respectable goat on the first day of my hunt.  So was in the right spot at the right time.  It was a long tiring day of excitement with some schetchy times with the steep snowy conditions.  But as a team we conquered the task to harvest a mountain goat.  Here are a few pic's of our adventure.

Jackjr - "Thanks for letting me be a part of the journey" I put that in sarcastic quotes because at times that day, I was thinking to myself....wtf did I get myself into....but I wouldn't rather use my vacation days any other way. You've been by my side on every special permit I've drawn and it was an experience I'll never forget. I wish those critters realized the grass is really green down on the flat parts of the mountain, but I'm thankful we got the job done when we did....because hiking back into that country the next day wouldn't have been easy. Nice work on a helluva goat, it was a "pleasure" helping pack it off the mountain. Til the next time....

And all the pics worked fine for me????
