Chiwawa unit, want company?
« on: September 28, 2017, 11:35:50 PM »
Hey y'all! It's been a busy summer and I haven't had a chance to get over and look much for a hunting area.  My son drew a Chiwawa youth doe tag, of course he would prefer a buck, but starting High School and not being on the island might make that more difficult.

I haven't been in a "deer camp" for many years and would love to have my son experience that.

Thanks for looking.   ;)

Seriously consider the part of the Chiwawa that borders up to the Entiat GMU. Easier hunting for locating a doe for your son

Does anyone know if you need any kind of forest pass type thing up there in the National Forest?

If you park at a trailhead, yes, you'll need a pass.  It's good for a year.

If you can patiently sit still overlooking a non-pressured opening, you should be able to easily fill that tag.  You might ask some landowners that have deer fencing around their gardens if you can hunt behind or on their property. The deer fencing is usually a dead giveaway that there would be no love lost if one of the garden raiders was removed from the local deer population.

Good luck!

MW, Thanks for the invite.  Will hopefully be just opening weekend.   ;)  But maybe second weekend as well.  I've got a Roosevelt bonus doe tag to fill and am still waiting to hear about my access over there.
