Nice shots 98520!  Is that 2nd buck as palmated as he appears?

I was going to go out with my camera yesterday and try to find some animals.  All three batteries were dead, so I put them on charger and postponed a couple of days.   I'm tempted to hang a trail cam too, but with all the Elk guys out, it's a risk that I'll never see it again.

I gave it a half-hearted attempt in the pissing rain this AM.  Thought I might see some WTs in the JBH Reserve on the Columbia River - struck out there too.  Nothing moving anywhere.   From the sounds of it, the elk hunters were having a pretty good morning.

one of the yard does has been wandering back and forth through the hood stopping to pee on her legs at every yard.

I've got a rut tag, and have only been able to hunt three afternoons since the tag started, and haven't seen a deer yet! Sign, but no deer.  Will have some more time this week though, only a matter of time before I cross paths with a buck.

An old buddy of mine from Alaska manages the JBH Reserve.  They had some big floods there several years ago and the population of whitetails shrank afterwards. Don't know if the deer just left the area or died off.

I've seen a few in the hills across the highway to the north. They also transported all they could find to Ridgefield WR.

Hmmm... I drove by the jbh refuge yesterday about 3pmish and saw this bruiser inside there, following a doe around. Another 5 doe and fawns feeding also. 2nd biggest I've seen in there. Pictures don't do him any justice at all.

I've been seeing tons of sign but no bucks.
My daughter has a special youth tag for Mason County and we have been hunting hard. We saw our first deer of the season last Saturday. I think it was a doe, she ran off and didn't give us a chance at a shot.
Driving home after dark a doe ran in front of us on Saturday night and last night a three point almost did the same thing.
Seems they are nocturnal everywhere we have been.
