Again, I feel incredibly blessed to have experienced this hunt with my dad and best friend and to fill the freezer of a couple families at the same time.  I look forward to thinking back on those 9 days spent elk hunting when I cook up an elk steak dinner or glance at the antlers on the wall.

First and foremost, thank you to my dad, Elksnout and my best bud, Cory for making it the priority to share his hunt with me.  Big thank you to several forum members for their advice, especially Teanawayslayer.  Heath, your offers to help and provide answers to my questions really inspire me to pay it forward someday.

Now c'mon WDFW, give my dad this tag next year so we can go back for round #2!
any time Dane! Congrats again on your bull!

Dad here. Great recap of the hunt buddy boy. As mentioned, every aspect of the hunt was perfect. I'm at a point in my life where I have more years behind me than in front. I've been elk hunting this state since I was fourteen years old and have waited a lifetime for a hunt such as this one!!

Thank you to all of the forum members who assisted with information and advise prior to the hunt. It was pure perseverance that got this done and you're all part of that team. Thank you.

I will say this...as a father it doesn't get any better than to watch your young gun harvest an animal no matter the size. I'll never tire of that. I couldn't have been more excited if I had pulled the trigger myself.

Elksnout

Can't we all just get along?

I am jealous, not only a great hunt but you were able to share it with dad.  Nothing better. I would frame those pictures and hang them at home.

Exactly what I dream of someday; thanks for an amazing write up.  That pic of your dad giving you a hug damn near brings a tear to my eye.  Talk about the highs of all highs.
