Factory 6.5 creedmore for big game
« on: October 20, 2017, 09:22:54 PM »
Thinking about getting a Rugar American Predator in 6.5 Creedmore. Any recommendations for a factory load for big game? Thanks!

Hornady's 143 ELDX load is a good place to start.

I've been updating my Creedmore ammo Test and Eval on a different thread.  For me its about what the gun likes as opposed to what is recommended as the best. So far Hornady doesn't shoot nearly as well as some other ammo. It likes Barnes and Federal. Im going to test some Winchester in the next week or so.

Are you running the rail that comes on it? I'm probably going to put a 20moa rail on mine.

I am for now..i have enough elevation in my scope to get me past a 1000 yards. I doubt I’ll do much shooting past that.

Nice! What scope are you running on it? I'm going to put a Vortex Viper HST 4-16x44 on it. I have one on my 308 and love it!

Honestly I feel to get the most out of the cm a guy has to reload. Or maybe should choose to reload. I’ve had mine for a few years when I bought it the options were bad. For ammo. Winchester match, Hornady 120amax,140amax. That’s it. I’ve loaded Barnes 127 lrx, 140 Barnes matchburners, 140 VLDs. All have shot sub moa with the proper powder charge. Mine likes 4451, hybrid 100v for 140’s and h4350 for the 127’s.  I’m gonna try the 143 this winter..
