My crockpot cooking
« on: November 18, 2017, 07:32:37 PM »
So, there is nothing special here, but I have really enjoyed putting a bunch of meat in a crockpot and then having leftover lunches for the next week or so.  Maybe you will too.

  • 2-3 lbs of bear, annoying roosters, venison, or all three!  The meat can go in as a big frozen chunk but it is better if you cut it up to let it soak in the other flavors.  (In the picture I added a polish sausage with the annoying rooster.)(if venison, CUT OFF ALL FAT)
  • 3-4 potatoes cut into 1-inch cubes
  • baby carrots or carrots cut into 1-inch chunks
  • bell pepper cut into strips
  • 1 whole onion, chopped into large chunks
  • 1 can of diced tomatoes
  • 1 can of tomato sauce (poured over the meat)
  • 1 can of diced chilies (med heat)
  • 2 diced garlic cloves
  • any other veggies that you can find.  I often add a can of corn (pour out the water), zucchini, or celery.
  • salt
  • italian seasoning (plenty)

I cook this on high for 6 hours or low for 8 hours.  I always make sure that I take up every inch of space in my crockpot so that I can have the leftovers.

Every time I cook this I do it differently.  Different meat, veggies, whatever.  No matter what I do, it always seems to turn out tasty

Very nice looking dinner, Joel. I hope you've found some morning peace with the annoying rooster in the pot!  :chuckle:
