Loaded up some of the 250gr Lehigh Controlled Fracturing bullets today. This was a seriously compressed load. Reminded me of seating a .375 bullet in a Ultra Magnum on top of 102gr of 7828. Having to apply a spooky amount of pressure and you can hear and feel the powder crunching as it's compressed.

Hit the range with only 5 rounds loaded. Just to see if they went bang! Also to function test the new AR. Also at a $1.25  a bullet Shipped. I wasn't going to load more than a few for my first go at it. I hate pulling bullets.

Went really well bellow is the first and only 5 shot group I have fired from the rifle. Started with a new, cold, clean bore. No break in. The first round was out (To be expected) the next 4 stacked up to be a hair over half inch.

Wow.....   pretty amazing accuracy. 

What a thumper.   

What is the point behind the controlled fracturing bullets?   Do they make a nasty wound channel?   Do pieces come off at impact? Just curious if they are meant for hunting. 

Any idea what kind of pressure those compressed loads run?

Just after my last post. I loaded up a few more but dropped half a grain to 43gr of 10X. The bullets seated a little smoother. Back to the bench to try it at 200 yards. I didn't make a scope adjustment because I know for a fact that more often than not your first round will be slightly out on most scope adjustments.

I already know the combo will shoot. So I fired 3 at the 200 yard line. The aim point is 3/4" it grouped 3" low and 3" right. The three shot group measured  .496! I'll take it!

I'm going to load up a bunch. Clean the rifle and in the morning zero it at 200 yards and call it good.

You must be tired of it by now, I’ve got a Chinese sks I’ll trade straight across for it, it’s a much more reliable gun, proven track record millions have been sold.

The old School SKS's are alright if you can shoot. I took a Mule Deer buck just shy of 600 yards with one using open sights about 20 years ago. Started low and walked them in, he was in a open sage creek bottom bellow me. Round number 5 dumped him. Holes kill crap, it's a simple concept. Most just over think it. vitamin "R" and a good spotter works wonders.   

It wasn't even my rifle. When I went to hand it back to my Buddy. He said "Screw you, you can pack it. If I have to pack half that damn deer."  All I said is you got that $100.00 bucks on you or do I have to drive you by a cash machine when we hit the pavement.

We never really knew for sure the range on that shot until 10 or so years later. We were in the same spot and had a range finder and ranged it.

The Lehigh Custom 250gr Controlled Fracturing .375 bullets shot well. Yorke's posts about the "Hammer" bullets. Got me to their website, so I ordered up several bullet weights to try in my .375 Raptor.
