As of this posting yes, all units are open.  Check this link frequently, maybe even print it off the night before you leave early  :chuckle:
I should be out hunting lions, thanks WDFW

Hunters can also verify closures by calling the toll-free cougar hotline (1-866-364-4868, press 2 after the recording).

Unless I'm mistaken, it's now January 2018  :chuckle:

So...there is no late season for 2018 OR they did away with the stupid quota system?  Or they just haven't updated it from last year  :dunno:

here's to hoping the quota system is gone,  I'll be checking the website and going hunting until I hear otherwise.
I should be out hunting lions, thanks WDFW

Been here every day for the last 3 days. He was in the chicken coupe today when I got home from work. He is definitely not afraid of me or my 85lb lab. He will be here tomorrow.  I've got my CWP.  I won't make the same mistake again.

That's not good buddy. Want me to send Cut over to camp out in your yard? He'd even sleep with the chickens.

It looks like it was updated from this mourning,I'm glad they updated, but at the same time all the units I hunt are closed.
For the past few years 121,117,have been closed Jan 1, you would think it might give them an idea that cougar numbers might be off in these units. But whatever rant over,Goodluck to anybody hunting open units.
Two birds in the Bush is always better than one in the hand-that way you can always go to the Bush and hunt another day .conservation=Better hunting.

Ok... for all that's been waiting.  Yesterday at about 4 I got home from work. My wife then left me with the bambina and went out to collect eggs. 20 seconds later she ran inside screaming "It's back". I grabbed my AR, that was loaded and ready, and ran outside with my wife and dog in tow.
I soon realized I was way to excited, as I was now standing 20ft, yes 20ft, from a lion that looked like he was about to mess me up! He was standing strait at me in the pounce position. I aimed and fired. He rolled and let out a noise I will never forget.
After all night praying to God, at least 50 times, I woke up this morning with friends ready to find my cat. After 400 yards of tracking blood and fur I still haven't found it.
I have know idea how an animal that has been shot by a 556 at 20ft away can last that long. I'm not giving up, but my heart and mind is not in a good place.

If nothing vital was hit, it could easily survive.

What bullets are you shooting, solids or an expanding type?

Do you have any idea what part/where on the body you hit, what area did the fur you were finding look like it came from?

What did the blood look like, color, amount, etc?

Any pictures of the blood or fur?

Yeah, I saw that NE was pretty much shut down. Need to keep at it here, I'm sure it's over soon.
