Any experience in ID unit 22/weiser river zone?
« on: January 31, 2018, 12:08:39 AM »
Looking to try a new spot in Idaho this September for archery elk. Anybody ever spent time in unit 22? Been scouring the IDFG site, google earth and gohunt. Left a message with the biologist today and I have some spots that I'm looking at, just wondering if anyone has any first hand accounts, thoughts or tips on the area in general.

Thanks guys!

you'll see more Washington plates than Idaho plates at the trail heads in that unit. so you'll fit right in. there's elk, if you work hard enough you'll get into them

I went pretty close to 22 last year on an archery hunt. Was just north of there in unit 23. My advice, go in mid to late September! I went on labor day weekend and I have never seen so many people in the woods before. Campers, atvs around every corner, and hunters were stacked on top of each other throughout the entire unit. It was also scorching hot and I only seen a small herd of cows and a handful of does on a 4 day trip.
Gobblers only, all jakes must walk

There's definitely more road access in there than I'd like but we'll see what happens, biologist says lots of hunters and lots of animals. Thanks for the responses guys, I appreciate it!
