It's obvious you guys are going to criticize Zinke no matter if he reduces or creates monuments, that tells me this is little more than political badgering regarding Zinke! You criticize the guy no matter what he wants to do!

You guys must be that sharp!Perhaps his attempt to be courteous was misguided, but I seriously doubt he was being racist! Reality check please! There is a difference between maliciously racist and racially insensitive. The rep from HI was not Japanese. She is a 4th generation American. There is no conceivable reason to greet her that way. He might as well have asked her if she needed chopsticks when her Caesar salad showed up at lunch.

I really don't understand his comment either, but again, why would he intentionally be racist or intentionally show disrespect in congress? Has anyone asked him why he said that?

You criticize the guy no matter what he wants to do! Actually I've supported some of his decisions, but I have no problem calling him out at time. I'm not someone who sees that all Republicans can do no evil and Dems can only do evil, they can both do evil.My big thing is I don't see him as a "god" that he likes to portray himself as, and as some on here think he is. That for some reason he is here to protect everyone's hunting and fishing rights everywhere and so on. In reality, he hasn't done much. There isn't a single thing WA hunters can say he's done to improve our hunting/fishing, and in reality, he cant do much. He has no authority over states issues, he cant say what happens with the Forest Service. His supporters like to say he got rid of the Obama lead "ban" for refuges, when in reality it wasn't a ban at all as it was a policy statement that refuges should move towards being lead free, shocking thing is most refuges were lead free before Obama took office, and this reg is still in place. In WA he's basically limited to National Parks and Wildlife Refuge issues. He oversees BLM but BLM is such a minor player in WA as they have less than 500,000 acres.

Seriously I doubt Washington is high on Zinke or Trump's list, this state has done nothing but try to trash the Trump administration, am I wrong? I'll be happy if Zinke and Trump make improvements in other states and do whatever they can to erase Obama's missteps. Trump has only done one thing that I seriously disagreed with, he talked about raising the age of gun purchasing to 21. I did what I figured was the most effective action, I sent twitter messages and facebook messages directly to Trump's accounts and sent a letter to his fundraising organization that I would not donate again if Trump violated the 2nd Amendment. I'm sure my messages alone made no difference, I'm also sure others did the same thing, it was only a few days and Trump changed his stance on weapons. Probably should thank the NRA!So, I'm very happy with Trump's actions thus far. When he missteps I will do my part to join others in letting him know, I'll do the same with Zinke and hope it helps!
He failed to mention that every administration opens new refuges, (and in some cases every year)

I spend a lot of time in Utah, many of the people there called it a land grab

Rep. Colleen Hanabusa, D-Hawaii, a fourth-generation American of Japanese ancestry, asked Zinke in a hearing whether he would continue a National Park Service grant program that funds research and preserves confinement sites where the government incarcerated as many as 120,000 people of Japanese descent. She said both of her grandfathers were internees.
