Acquiring preference points for kids
« on: May 15, 2018, 09:22:48 AM »
I remember a WDFW survey earlier this year on the proposed regulations changes that related to prohibiting kids without hunters ed from acquiring preference points.  Or maybe it set a minimum age to put in for points?  I don't remember, exactly.

Did this end up being enacted?  I just went through the new regs and couldn't find anything, but may have missed something obvious.

Yes it did.

The only ones you could acquire for kids before was Moose, Goat and Sheep. Now they must pass hunters education before you can start acquiring points, just like how deer and Elk have always been.

Don't waste your money the youth program is  pathetic ! your putting in for "1" antlerless moose tag and "3" ewe tags absolutely pathetic  >:(

Kids can apply in all the regular categories as well, not just the youth categories. But I agree- the one youth moose tag is hardly worth applying for. Probably would have better odds by purchasing a raffle ticket.
