Headed back to Alaska for black bear, moose and wolf!
« on: May 28, 2018, 02:57:37 PM »
Bought an Alaskan black bear tag, moose tag and wolf tag. Headed back up and I'm stoked. I bought the moose tag which will give me the option to shoot a caribou if I see one or the other. Originally, I was all for caribou, but the more vids I watch of moose coming in, the more I am leaning moose. Either way, success or not, just going will once again be a dream come true. Stay tuned, I will post in this thread once I get back.

Naturally, heading to Alaska forces you to buy other must have items....so treating yourself to a few extra goodies is a bonus!

Any tips on getting meat back down to the lower 48 appreciated. I will be outside of Wasilla again. I will look into this myself of course. I know there are companies that specialize in this, but if anyone has experience I'd be curious to hear.

Good luck on the hunt! What unit(s) are you hunting?

There is some good hunting back in there but don't expect to see many caribou..

Check out rokslide forums for info on meat. Sounds like alaska airlines has no problem flying your frozen meat back in coolers with you. Getting meat back home is a good problem to have!

I heard moose populations are way down in those units... I’d postpone the trip for a couple years.
