White river archery quality elk 653
« on: June 22, 2018, 08:18:01 AM »
Good morning to all and congrats to all that drew tags yesterday! The coast is my general season main stay and drew multiseason 2 years ago and put in for Peaches and drew that so I am very lucky to draw another prestigious tag with 2 points. Any information on this hunt would be much appreciated. I have an amazingly good caller coming with and we're no strangers to wearing our boots out. Will be camping out of an RV so spots to set that up would be nice, is there any off road vehicle access, good bicycle spots, cell service ect ect..

And to answer your curious questions no i did not harvest in peaches. Passed on 3 bulls and had encounters of some sort every day, was an amazing hunt!

Thank you

They don't send out emails to those who draw. Emails are sent to notify people that the drawing occured and results are available, and that's only if you request to be notified by email.

Sure just after we buy our Hancock vehicle passes this happens. Hopefully if the thunderstorms show up they stay away from the rest of the unit! Tic toc ready for September!

That's the gamble with buying the pass. Last year they didn't open their property until the last day of the archery elk season. In past years it has opened before the season starts, Sept.1st two years ago and August 28th three years ago so chances are we'll be able to get in there to hunt. I feel fortunate that we got in a dozen or so scouting trips before they closed. Now it's time to scout the rest of the unit.

Well was able to get down to the unit for a day this last weekend. Was on limited time so did a lot of driving around to get familiar with certain areas and roads we've been looking at or told to check out for access. Seen a handful of animals and a lot of good sign. Spending the weekend there in a couple weeks to do a more thorough scout. And holy cow its busy there on a Saturday, Subaru's and people everywhere! September and bugling bulls cant come soon enough!

It is really busy on weekends in the summer, when the rain comes it will slow down, but on the main fs roads in that area there will always be people, year round regardless of weather. But most people out there don’t get off the main roads and trails much.
