Kachess Lake?
« on: August 25, 2018, 12:59:37 PM »
Been camping since Wednesday. I hear there are Kokes and maybe some trout. I just a have a small row boat with electric trolling motor. Is there anything here to catch?   :dunno:  PM if you like. Any help just to get the kids on a fish.

Thanks,

Mike Henne

There is a 10-fish catch limit for kokanee in addition to a 2-fish, 14-inch minimum size trout daily limit.

Any tips on how to catch them?  I have flashers, worms, corn, powerbait and spinners but I have not had any luck catching anything. Maybe wrong area, depth etc?  No downriggers though.

I haven’t done it in years but typical kokanee gear worked. Wedding rings tipped with white shoepeg corn, etc.

One important tip for kokanee is to fish the thermocline.  I would fish different depths paying attention to what depth I am at so when I catch one I know then how deep to be fishing.  Corn and maggots with glow hooks.

No downriggers needed.  Thermocline is more than likely around 20 feet or so.  Kokes bite is so slight I would use a fly pole with a spinning reel and stay super focused on the end of the pole for the slightest movement.

Anyone try for burbot in Kachess? I have found them dead on the banks but never targeted them. In fact, never tried to fish them in general. I'd be interested to hear if anyone has and how to go about it.
