Team Joe get's it done! Rimrock quality elk rifle, first day, first light and on the ground within 30 minutes. I had the honor of being the caller for Team Joe, there's nothing more special than being a part of an elk rut hunt for me, so fun! We got this guy's goat when I bugled over the top of his, that's when I knew we hooked him then reeled him right in. Never been to Rimrock before this year, what beautiful rugged country.
Congrats everyone! Here's my first archery elk!Solo hunt at the coast. Called him in to 30 yards, shot my 40 yard pin instead and hit him high . He ran to about 90 yards where I watched him stand around for the longest hour and fifteen minutes of my life (first picture). Him and his cows finally fed down the ridge away from me and I was able to sneak to right above him. Found him at 40 yards while peeking through the grass. Drew, stood, made absolutely sure I had the right pin and shot before he got too nervous. Hit him in the lungs but of course he ran into the thickest coast reprod/brush patch he could find. Luckily my co-workers were nearby to help out!
I like the “sigh of relief” look on Gus’ face
Hopefully that's not the "this devils club is poking through my pants" look.
