More goats.
« on: September 09, 2018, 03:42:12 PM »
Saw an article where they are moving 750 goats from the Olympics to the cascades.  I’ve wondered why they haven’t done this for a long time.   Hope it’s true!

Where ya been, Bone? This has been going on for a while now. They’re going to move as many as possible in 3 years,  and then shoot the rest.

That's a BUNCH of goats.

Glad they're transplanting them.

Any idea how many goat thy estimate to be there?

I wouldn't have even guessed 750.

Hitting the road at 4 am to drive goats to the north cascades barring any bad weather that will ground the helicopters.   This is 3 year project with a big learning curve.  My hope is we get as many of the population transplanted to the north cascades before the project ends.   I hate the fact that any goats left after that 3 rd yeas are slated to be culled.   Overall I believe this is the best option verses Mtn goat eradication.

I really don’t understand why they are wasting money doing this. Just doesn’t seem like a significant problem. And moreover, if it is, then the state should MAKE money getting rid of those goats by selling permits. Really baffles me.

Feds property, feds rules. Hopefully, the goats outside on are safe unless they wander into the park.

The goats outside the park will be captured and moved next year. According to the bio.

That seems like a ton of goats I'm glad they're not all to be killed. Wonder how long before the ones they miss repopulate the park.
