Look what I found!
« on: September 21, 2018, 07:28:04 PM »
This is what I been hunting for a year and a half. I knew they were there, just not how many or how big, This was the biggest, the other 5 or so were dinks. Still learning this fishery but I'm in the right ball field  :yeah:

Hell yeah, tough to beat a mess of crappie and perch fillets !! Back when I was kid my dad was huge on fishing crappie and perch, in about 4 hours of fishn we caught 82 crappie the size of steak platters, absolute huge crappie and I mean huge, we caught perch on top of that that were studs as well, dad made us stop cause we were to young to fillet and he was stuck filleting all of them!! I left years later for the army, no one ever fished that lake, well I ended up having a son and when I took him out there I was told that the state killed the lake and it was planted with damn soft nasty old trout !! Now it ain’t fit for fishn 🤬🤬🤬

Well I hate to sound like that guy, but don’t say anything to anyone where you got those, next summer about the middle of July be right back where you caught those and troll really slow with a white feather crappie jig and a kid at Christmas will be an understatement, haha !! You just want to be trolling just as the sky starts to lighten up, the best crappie fishing is about the first hour of day light and if you hit a good school of them it is seriously fast and furious, when the bite dies off look for perch weeds and we used the same jig with a little nugget of night crawler, then after you catch your first perch fillet him and use tiny strips of perch, but leave the skin on the fillet , that way it’s a tough bait !!

Nice.  We would fish them with shiner minnows under a bobber down south and they ran to about 18".  Fun and good eats.

When I go back to WI to fish big Northern Pike I usually pick up a couple on big spinner bats intended for the northerns.  We always threaten to spend an evening fish crappies but eat the bonus one and just keep flinging big baits at the northerns.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

Last time I tried to join "Crappie Club" they told me I would have to die first, to learn the secret location of "Crappie Heaven".
It's nice to finally return back from the other side and haunt you with my latest coordinates.  :o
