Yamaha powered genny's at Costco
« on: September 26, 2018, 10:53:40 AM »
After camping with someone else I discovered the usefullness of two small generators instead of one bigger one.

Found a pair at Costco

https://www.costco.com/A-IPower-1600W-Running--2000W-Peak-Yamaha-Powered-Gas-Inverter-Generator.product.100343958.html

awesome deal I think at $499, comes with parallel cables, battery charger, 12v port

I always like the idea, and the Hondas kind of lead the way with their inverter line.  But that is a really good deal on what appears to be the equivalent functionality.

That's a screaming deal.  Less than 1/2 of a Honda.
Be curious how this one compares, KF.

I've had mixed results with "Powered by" products.  With generators, the inverter is hugely important, hopefully they last for you.  The good part is they are backed by Costco which is about as good of a warranty as you can get.

I wish I had the dough. I'd get one.

I put them both together and plugged in the RV.

I'm not sure what the BTU is on the AC unit is but it's a 29 foot double slide so it's probably a mid to large size AC unit.

The generators ran the AC unit and weren't even running full tilt, so I turned on the microwave and it ran that also.  Put in some fuel stabilizer and ran them for an hour and put them away.

so far so good

Get the Honda.  Seriously been there done that - get a honda and don’t look back. No fun fighting jenny issues in the middle of Idaho in snow and sleet.  Buy once and enjoy quiet dependable power.

OK so I found something pretty cool with these.

My old diesel truck (1995 Dodge 12v) has a dead battery, been sitting for a long time and its almost 100 yards from the nearest outlet.  It's got two optima yellow tops under the hood and they suck bad I hate them.

Gonna pack out the genny and plug in the block heater and hook up the battery charger and let it run.  Charge and warm it up at the same time?  We'll see how it does.

Judging from the size of the battery charging wires it's not going to charge very fast.

Skillet used the Honda 1K I sold him to charge up his batteries before he could start his mains, otherwise, he would have been dead in the water, literally.
