I think they will do the other 1500 only whitetail tags at some point.

Supply and demand.  This is why the cost goes up dramatically every time they can.

Even if you chose a whitetail tag earlier they pulled from the general tag allotment. The 1500 whitetail tags will be gone in the next 3 weeks if not sooner.

Yes understand. I was just meaning no more regular tags but still some whitetail only tags for a bit. I dont know if they are for sale now or when they will open them as they say its only after all the alloted general tags are gone.

Where did you hear this? Because Why would you have to specify a tag when you buy it and I am also wondering why they would do that since the seasons for the two different tags aren’t identical. I’d be a little pissed off if I bought a whitetail tag to hunt bucks in let’s say unit 18 in November but they gave me a general tag so now I’m hosed.

I apologize if I am interpreting this wrong because I’ve been known to do that

I cant remember for sure but think jbar is right you have to pick regular or whitetail in checkout. Like one of the places I am hunting this year the regular tag stops the 3rd but the whitetail only tag runs later into the season if I recall correctly. I have always just bought regular tags.

I kinda think of it like elk here. You have to specify east or west, depending on area and seasons to hunt.

They wont send you a general tag they just take your tag from the general tag allotment. Once general tag pool is gone they sell whitetail only tags. They are available right away to purchase you just no longer have the choice of tags.

Looks like they are selling them if anyone wants a whitetail tag. There is 1400 of the 1500 left as I just looked.
